Unconfirmed operations: 502 instead of 500
02/10/2026
When the authority accepted a request but did not confirm whether the operation went through, the API returned 500, sometimes with no message. A 500 says the failure is ours, and it was not. From today these cases come back as 502, with a message that says what happened, like any other unexpected answer from the authority.
| Operation | Before | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Register a termination (TGSS) | 500 "Duplicado no obtenido. Por favor, verifique si la operación se realizó correctamente." | Sistema RED is first asked for that worker's TA on that date. If it exists, 200 with the TA, like a normal termination. Otherwise, 502 with the same message. |
| Contract change (TGSS) | 500 with an empty message | 502 with SISTEMA RED: <RED notice> or, without a notice, "El Sistema RED no confirmó el cambio de contrato. Por favor, verifique si la operación se realizó correctamente." |
| Submit work calls (SEPE) | 500 when SEPE rejected every worker | 502. Each worker's reason is still in data.data[]. 422 and 503 do not change. |
| Cancel contrat@ (SEPE) | 500 when SEPE did not confirm the cancellation | 404 or 422 if SEPE's answer is definitive, 502 with SEPE: <message> for any other rejection, and 502 "El SEPE no confirmó la anulación de la comunicación. Por favor, verifique si la operación se realizó correctamente." if it said nothing. |
The body format does not change (success, message, status, errors), and neither does the termination message: if your integration recognises it by its text, it keeps working.
What to check in your integration:
- Terminations: some terminations that used to come back as an error now come back as
200with their TA, because TGSS had actually processed them. If you resent the termination or flagged it for manual review on that error, there is no need in those cases. - Retries: a
502"…verifique si la operación se realizó correctamente" means the operation may have gone through. Check before repeating it. If you blindly retry any5xx, you may duplicate the termination or the cancellation.
